Fresh Details Come to Light Regarding the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Recent details have emerged concerning the shocking passing of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source also disputed several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
Furthermore disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
