Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah expressed regret to the group of players following the fallout from his public comments.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and suggesting his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the outburst were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a place of caring,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, performing and securing victories.”
