Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The president explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Support
Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist public safety in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to assist people.”
Memorial arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Government Revisions
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Bondi stated on the program that she planned to speak to the family.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
